How to upgrade your Honda Grom 2014-2020

Rear of the Bike

Stretch: if you are looking to stretch your Honda Grom you will need our stretch kit we offer, you do NOT need any other parts to stretch the bike, but we do recommend adding other parts to make it cleaner.
Stretch: https://theruckshop.com/product/grom-msx-125-adjustable-bolt-in-stretch-complete-kit/
This stretch is adjustable from a 4″ to 6″ stretch (/- .5″ depending on chain tension) Completely bolt-in… Our Kit even comes with an 420×132 length chain with greater tensile stretch than the stock chain We also include the chain breaker tool. We don’t nickel and dime you get the all the parts needed the first time. Tighten pinch bolts to 16 ft/lbs. up to 18
Looking to lower the rear of your Honda GROM a bit to go with the lower front end? Want to lower it without NEEDING* to install a stretch? Here you go! Kit requires no drilling and can be installed easily with the bike properly supported (because you have to remove the rear shock). You do not need to remove the chain/wheel/etc. to install! The TRS Billet 6061-T6 Rear Lowering Link kit allows you to lower the back of your GROM up to 2.5″**! Looking to lowering it more get the 4.5″ MUST USE GROM BOLT IN STRETCH KIT TO USE THE 4.5 LOWERING LINK.

Front of the Bike

To lower the front of the bike there are a few things you can do, one of which is to install 2-inch front fork lowering tubes & springs. This kit is an add-on to your existing stock forks! There is no cutting/etc. involved. This is a simple bolt-on process. This kit will not only lower the front of the bike by 2″, but it will also stiffen up the forks thanks to an Auxiliary Spring Pack that installs inside of the fork! No need to break out a blowtorch to stiffen things up! This kit is designed for looks and for show. That is NOT to say it does not handle well, but it is like lowering anything else, it will stiffen things up. ***This Lowering Kit was NOT designed to use the stock bars. You will either need to install at least a 1.75″ riser and use bars with a lower rise than stock or use our “Race Bars” handlebar setup which was designed specifically around this lowering kit!***

If you want to lower the handlebars we offer clip-on racebars made from billet 6061 aluminum. What is different from ours compared to others you ask. We have use Solid 6061-T6 ROD to help with vibration and steering feel NOT HOLLOW CHINESE TUBING LIKE OTHERS. For one price, we have better quality parts, using 6160 Billet Clamps NOT cast like others. We have drilled both ends for Bar end Mirrors. Others use Chinese tubing. Do you really want to be doing wheelies or cornering with Chinese tubing? We make these 100 % in our USA machine shop with USA aluminum at a more affordable price.

If you are looking to keep the stock handlebars but want to raise them you will want the 1.5” risers. They bolt right on and are made from 6061 billet aluminum.

If you get aftermarket bars such as our clip-on racebars you’ll need either the 21mm or 38mm risers which allows riders better sitting positions. Taller riders over 6 feet tall we recommend 1.5″ riser and if you are using on TRIAL 125. You do NOT need risers, but they do help with full lock out.

Wheels

We offer a set of wheels in multiple designs. Here is what you need: In order to do the fatty wheels (rear 12×6) (front 12×4) you NEED a stretch like the one listed above. This is because they will not fit under the bike in stock position. Your factory rear wheel tire (130/70-12) will fit on the rear rim (12×6). The front rim will need either a 120/70-12 or a 110/70-12.

Hubs

We do not make hubs in-house, but we do sell the Chimera Hubs which fit 2014-2020 Honda Groms with non-abs. These are Chimeras FRONT AND REAR HUB SET for the 4-bolt rotor Honda grom msx125 OG and SF models. If you have a newer model with a 5-bolt rotor you will have to swap out to a 4-bolt rotor. This is not made for abs models and will not retain the abs function. The hub does not include any hardware because different rim designs would require different length bolts (thickness of rims from 2pc vs 3pc). See our hardware section for M8x1.25mm bolts in various lengths that you may purchase. You could reuse the OEM brake rotor bolts from the Honda Grom or Monkey.
The following parts would need to be reused from your OEM rear rim:
– OEM Honda Cush Drive Rubber (HND-1043)
– OEM Cush Hub Carrier w/spacer (HND-1042 or HND-1115)
– OEM O-Ring (40.5×3) Dust Keeper
– OEM Brake Rotor Bolts
